Most Asked Home Repair Questions
Most of our clients have a lot of questions about the home repair process. In order to start serving you with professionalism and integrity, we have gathered together the top 10 most asked questions.
-
Are you licensed and insured?
I am registered with the Attorney General as required by the state’s Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. My registration number is PA 103541. It is this state registration that most refer to when being “licensed” in the PA, but as stated on HIC website…”Registration under HICPA is not an endorsement, recommendation or approval by the Office of Attorney General of the contractor’s competency or skill.” There is no true licensure program for contractors in PA. I also carry plenty of contractors liability insurance.
-
Do you provide free estimates?
I work almost exclusively on a time and materials basis, but I am more than happy to provide you a realistic estimate of total project cost. A firm estimate is achievable for more sizeable projects.
-
What kind of work do you do?
It’s easier to explain what sort of work I do not do. I do not do roofing, but have some great referrals. I do not do masonry work, but can make some fine recommendations. I install floors, but do not refinish floors.
-
Do I have to worry about contracting with electricians, plumbers, or carpenters ?
I will successfully manage all phases of the project. If needed, I have trusted partners, who are licensed and insured.
-
What about zoning and permits?
I can acquire all of the necessary zoning requirements and permits that are needed to complete your project.
-
Do you provide a warranty on your work?
We do provide a warranty on any work that we perform.
-
How long have you been in business?
I formally became a for contractor 10 years ago, but have been doing sizeable remodeling projects for 33 years. I’ve remodeled and outfitted 6 commercial spaces, all in historic buildings, for my own retail business. I’ve also completely rehabilitated several homes for myself.
